A free CAGE code lookup built on official SAM.gov data, with every coded field explained in plain English.

What this site does

cagecodelookup.com lets you look up a United States federal supplier by its five-character CAGE code, or find a company by name, and see the registration decoded rather than as raw codes. Where SAM.gov gives you 2L, we also tell you it means “Corporate Entity (Not Tax Exempt)”.

Every lookup also checks the federal exclusions flag and warns you prominently if an entity is debarred, suspended, or proposed for debarment. That single check is the main reason not to rely on an old downloaded CAGE list.

Where the data comes from

All entity data comes from the SAM.gov public Entity Registration file extract, published by the U.S. General Services Administration under Data Services. It is the official public dataset, not a scrape.

The extract currently loaded is dated , containing 895,429 registrations, of which 794,847 carry a CAGE code. SAM.gov publishes a new extract monthly and this site is refreshed against it. The date is displayed on every result so you always know how current the answer is.

Only fields marked Publicin SAM.gov’s own data dictionary are used. The extract also contains FOUO and Sensitive (CUI) fields; those are never loaded, stored or displayed.

What this site does not do

  • It is not a government website. It is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any U.S. government agency. For the authoritative record, go to SAM.gov.
  • It does not publish a bulk CAGE code list, and does not generate a page per company. Records are served one at a time in response to a search.
  • It does not charge for anything.Obtaining a CAGE code from the Defense Logistics Agency is free, and so is registering in SAM.gov. Any service charging a fee to “register” your CAGE code is charging for something you can do yourself at no cost.
  • It does not require an account, and sets no advertising cookies. Analytics cookies are used only with your consent — see the privacy policy.

Accuracy

Decode tables are published only where they can be verified against an official source. Entity structure and registration purpose codes come from SAM.gov’s own published data dictionary. No authoritative published table has been found for the DLA status and type codes, so this site does not reproduce one rather than risk repeating an error found on other sites.
